1.   Read verses 1-3. Who was Nicodemus? Why had he come to Jesus? According to Jesus, what did Nicodemus need to do in order to see and enter the kingdom of heaven?

2.   Read verses 4-5. How did Nicodemus respond? What did he think Jesus meant? Read verses 6-8. How did Jesus explain the meaning of being born again? How can a person be born again? (see Jn 1:12,13) (See 2Co 5:17)

3.   Read verses 9-13. Did Nicodemus understand Jesus' explanation? Why? (vs 11) What are the earthly things and what are the heavenly things?

4.   What do verses 14-15 teach about believing? What does God promise to those who believe? (16) Why did God send his son Jesus into the world?(What were his motives? What was his purpose?)

 

5. Read verses 18-21. Who are those who are condemned and why are they condemned? Why do some men not believe? What is the result of not believing?
