1. Read verses 19-21. What are the contrasts between the rich man and Lazarus? Think about the lifestyle and hopes and desires of each.

2. Read verses 22-24. What was the eternal destiny of each? What further contrast do we see here? What does it mean that Lazarus was with Abraham? What request did the rich man make of Abraham?

3. Read verses 25-26. What was Abraham’s response? What does it mean that a great chasm has been fixed between heaven and hell?

4. Read verses 27-31. What was the next request of the rich man in hell? Why did Abraham refuse? What is God’s way of planting faith in men’s hearts? What does this teach about the importance of accepting the word of God?

5. Read verses 30-31 again. What was Jesus teaching the Pharisees and his disciples? What should we learn?
