Question

EXPLORE THE PROMISED LAND

Numbers 13:1-14:25

Key Verse 13:2

  1. What command did God give to Moses (13:1-2)?  Why did God give this command?  Think about the lands God wants us to explore and conquer.
  1. Read verses 3-20. What did Moses ask the explorers to find out about the people and the land?  Read verse 21-29.  What was their report about the land?
  1. Read verses 31-33. What discouraging report did ten of the explorers give?  Read 14:1-4. How did the people respond to their report?  What was the problem of the ten explorers and the people? How was Caleb’s report different (13:30)?

  1. Read 14:1-9.  How did the people rebel against God and his servants? What did Moses and Aaron do? How did Joshua and Caleb respond and what did they urge the people to do?  What can we learn from them?
  1. Read verses 10-12.  What did God say about the sin of the people?  What did he tell Moses he would do?  Look at Moses’ prayer. (13-19) What was God’s decision and why would that generation never see the Promised Land (20-23)?
  1. How did God commend Caleb (24a)?  What was different about Caleb? Think about the meaning of the words, “follows me wholeheartedly.”  What promise did God give to Caleb and his descendants (24b)?  Based on this passage, think about your faith and vision in your practical life and ministry.
